Rare Books

In addition to the works listed here, the bibliographies of Merrill (A50), Finotti (A49), and Parsons (A51) should also be consulted for American Catholic incunabula. In British Catholic bibliography, the term "recusant" is used to refer to the Catholic population after the break with Rome in 1558. Because of the fugitive nature of their publishing activities, recusant works are among the rarest Catholic books in English.
