The books listed in this section, while they may be of interest primarily to librarians, are also valuable to the general researcher; the Catholic Library Association's Directory (A71) is a guide to Catholic collections throughout the country; and the classification schedules (A82 and A83) could serve as guides to the organizing of religious knowledge although they are both in need of revision.

The Catholic Library Association, founded in 1921, is an organization of about 4,000 members involved with Catholic libraries and is open to any person or institution interested in its purposes. (For a complete history see "History of the Catholic Library Association" by Sister Consolata Maria, published serially in the Catholic Library World, beginning with XXXVI [April, 1965], p. 526.) The Association publishes the monthly Catholic Library World, The Catholic Periodical and Literature Index and many other reference works on this list.
