A comprehensive one-volume dictionary; it is "intended to meet the needs of users in the U. S. and Canada and incorporates the many changes in the Church's liturgy and discipline coming about as a result of the Council" (preface). Includes terms, doctrines, feasts, practices, religious orders; with appendixes of abbreviations, forms of address, patron saints, Catholic organizations, popes, biographies of American and Canadian Catholics and saint's names. It appears to be reasonably up-to-date and useful but has been criticized for superficiality and omissions (Catholic Library World, XXXVI [May-June, 1965], Pp. 617-618).
