This work serves as a fine example of several catalogs of this type compiled early in the century by both librarians and clergymen. Although designed for patrons of a specific library, some, like the Cleveland list, were so extensive that they could be used as selection tools or author checklists. Other American libraries that issued similar lists were Baltimore, Grand Rapids, Kansas City, Louisville, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh and Utica, New York. (Cf. Library of Congress Author Catalog)
