Each issue contained articles on Catholic books and authors; the "Catholic Book Index" (an author-title-subject index with annotations); and "The Catholic Magazine Index" (a subject and author index to about 20 periodicals, which served to update the Catholic Periodical Index). After 1939 this section became the "Catholic Survey of all Current Literature," indexing Catholic periodicals for book reviews.

Easily the best journal of its kind; currently the Religious Book Review (A58) serves roughly the same purpose.
