One of the smallest of Kapsner's many library reference works but certainly not the least useful. It was designed to supplement the Vatican and 1949 A.L.A. codes and could be used by any library cataloging Catholic material, especially liturgical books (both Latin and Eastern), religious orders, and names in religion. Its treatment of the Bible is probably of interest only in Catholic libraries. Other types of entries covered include popes, saints, documents, monastic rules and the use of the heading "Catholic Church" in Catholic collections. Many examples are furnished for each rule, and reference is consistently made to related rules in the A.L.A. and Vatican codes. Should be updated to conform to recent AACR2 practices.
