Among the most popular one-volume Catholic dictionaries in English. Has gone through 3 editions and many printings in England and the U.S. It is a "general work of quick reference to the signification of words, terms, names and phrases in common use in the philosophy, dogmatic and moral theology, canon law, liturgy, institutions and organization of the Catholic Church" (Preface). Biographies are included but limited mostly to saints.
