Unique in coverage among the plethora of quotation books. Scripture is not included, but more than 10,400 quotations drawn from Catholic and non-Catholic sources (if they deal with the Church), from the earliest works to those of the day, are arranged alphabetical!y by subjects. The indexes are adequate, but references to sources are not as complete as one might wish. Critic, however, termed this work "a splendid collection" (XV [February, 1957], p. 259).
