A dictionary of all the words used in the Summa and selected terms from other works giving the meaning, both in the words of St. Thomas and those of the compilers, with quotations to illustrate the meanings. Obviously the result of much toil and study, this work has been termed "a monumental achievement of American scholarship. Though it may not embody the ultimate perfection desired by some professional philosophers and theologians, it achieves its avowed purpose with remarkable accuracy and distinction" (Catholic Library World, XXI [May, 1950], p. 246).
