E142
Acta conciliorum oecumenicorum. Societas Scientiarum Argentoratensis. Ed. Eduardus Schwartz. Berlin, de Gruyter, 1914-40. 4 v. in 25.
Probably the most useful collection of conciliar documents because of its completeness and full indexing. Unfortunately only the third, fourth and fifth ecumenical councils (Ephesus, Chalcedon and Constantinople) had been covered by 1940 when work on the project was abandoned. Nevertheless, for the councils included, this series, which had already reached 25 volumes, is the "most important work on the sources of the councils" (Hubert Jedin, Ecumenical Councils of the Catholic Church E168, p. 224).
