This work is described in the liturgy section of Chapter II (B382). Here it is sufficient to point out that it also covers early Christian institutions, morals, customs, social and private life, through the investigation of Christian epigraphy, paleography and numismatics. Month emphasized its value in dealing with "aspects of the history of the Church too largely ignored hitherto or touched upon only incidentally" (CI [June, 1903], p. 204). O'Rourke lists it as "the most complete and scholarly work for Catholic archeology" (A74 , p. 119).
